What is Sea Moss?

Sea Moss is an umbrella term for different varieties of red algae, also known as seaweed. Irish Sea Moss or Chondrus Crispus, is a is a distinctive varietal that thrives along the rocky shores of the Atlantic coasts, particularly in places like Ireland, North America and the Caribbean.

For centuries, it has been harvested for its dense nutritional profile and its ability to support overall health.

Some sources suggest that sea moss was used in Chinese medicine as early as 600 B.C., and by 400 B.C., it had become a common food source throughout the British Isles.

Oskaya’s Irish Sea Moss Powder is produced by sustainably hand-harvesting the seaweed along the Irish coast, sun-drying the fronds, and milling them into a fine, versatile powder.
